I guess the bottom line is do they add any value to your existing service? If they do, then it may be appropriate to advertise on your existing site, but in a specific "other services" section for example. I have several friends who are pretty successful at it, but as with any 'business' it does take time, dedication, education and effort. There are many sites out there nowadays that operate affiliate programs, from Amazon to bookmakers to airlines, but this is one of the areas that has a bad reputation online due to it being promoted as a 'get rich while you sit in your pyjamas' business. You are right to highlight the word 'Easy' as that is often the impression given. Given the time I don't have to run my own business I think I will leave these schemes to those that understand.
