In today’s world we are constantly receiving emails mainly because it is so easy and usually free for people to send email. This can make it difficult for businesses to communicate with customers because our email is going to be just one of many for most people.
You may also find that junk filters will claim some of the email that you send. What steps can you take to make sure that people read your emails?
There are no guarantees on getting email read but here are a few tips that will help.

When people sign up with you ask them to ‘whitelist’ your email address. Do this by getting to them expect the first email and if it goes into their spam / junk folder to mark it as “not spam”.
Avoid expressions where possible that spam filters search for. Words such as opportunity can trigger a spam filter. If you use a good mailing system it will usually have a system that will tell you if your email is likely to be treated as spam.
Create a great headline! Once your email is safely in the inbox you want to make sure that your customer reads it. A headline that makes it stand out to the reader is important. Your emails should be targeted to your customers and so you should know what really interests them. Target your headline to their needs and interests. Think of it like the headline on the cover of a newspaper or magazine that would make you want to open it.
